The name of the house has been derived from the name of our national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. He was born in a well-known Muslim family on 24 May, 1899 in Churuila, Burdwan, Bengal Presidency (West Bengal). Nazrul was a famous poet, writer, musician and anti-colonial revolutionary who is especially recognized as a “Rebel Poet” around the country. His revolutionary attempt helped him to be a national poet of Bangladesh. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman brought him in Dhaka in 1972 along with his family. He died four years later on 29 August 1976 in Dhaka.
